The Path Ahead…

Welcome back my friends!
It warms my heart to see you have returned. Not many this day in age choose a path like ours, one of reward earned by sweat and muscle. One where the reard is not riches of the coin, but riches of the soul. We are a rare breed this day in age indeed.. Let us continue on our journey my friend and see where the path takes us!

Exposing It All…

This my friends, is the part where most take cunning images or present you with smoke and mirrors. I want to be brutally honest and upfront as possible, even at the expense of my own pride or embarrassment. For you see, I am but a common man. I have had trials, I have had setbacks. We all have. To claim perfect is folly…..or deceit. You will find no ill will or deciet here my friend. The image above was taken in the last week, a testament to my dedication to being honest with you about my postion. Some may look and see a pile of refuse or scrap, but I see my failures, my past, things that need remedying. I see my new beginning, for there is work to be done and I praise the stars that I am finally strong and healthy enough to do so.

I wanted to use this journal entry as a way to catalog my “starting” point. True, i do already have some beginnings in the journey of self sufficiency, but let this entry prove there is still much work to be done. Let this entry mark my switch from “hobby” to “homesteader in the making”. Let this post mark when I decided to reclaim my life from my illness.

This journey will be long, hard, and frought with struggle. But thats what makes the goal at the end that much more rewarding. The images above are but a sample, a taste of some of the neglect I need to make up for in my battle with illness and pain the last few years. They are to show that I have no perfect homestead, no endless coin to toss at my problems. I can’t go out and drop a king’s ransom on new machinery or supplies. Each and every dollar spent has to be well planned and weighed if actually neccessary. This often leads to making due with what is at hand, and often, that means sweat and time my friend.

Homesteading and self sufficiency doens’t have to cost a dragon’s hoard in gold regardless of what other websites and vlogs may show. You don’t always need that new machine, the latest gadget, or most expensive solution to a problem. Let us return to homesteading as it was meant to be my fellow journeymen. Let us work the land with passion and grit instead of riches and clout, Let us become more self sufficent not to preen or gloat, but for the sake of freedom and health.
